Footshop Case Study: 2.5x Faster Loading Speed after a Year and a Half of Collaboration

During collaboration with PageSpeed.ONE, Footshop significantly accelerated its websites, enhancing user experience.

Curious about our process and results?

Web Footshop, ukázka vzhledu na mobilu a desktopuFootshop is a standout brand you can't miss.

Footshop is an e-shop for sneakers and streetwear, operating in our region and in Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and other Central and Eastern European countries. It focuses on premium and limited products, building a strong fan community.

Let's see how we helped Footshop speed up their websites.

First, we identified the most critical metrics for the client. Our analysis highlighted TTFB (server response time), CLS (layout stability), and LCP (loading speed) from the Core Web Vitals set.

Optimizing Target Metrics

With well-set analytics and quality data, we began optimizing. From late 2023, we focused on speed metrics by priority:

  • Backend response speed (TTFB) and loading speed (LCP) – Footshop's developers tuned servers, while we enhanced frontend performance, such as transitioning from client-side rendering cached by Service Worker to server-side rendering.
  • Improving interaction response (INP) – In March 2024, Google introduced the INP metric. Interaction response speed wasn't ideal, so we started a SpeedSprint analysis, resulting in specific adjustments.
  • Tuning unwanted page shifts (CLS) – The next phase in late 2024 involved refining component rendering and reducing CLS values.

Collaboration Results: Significantly Better Metrics

We're pleased with the metric improvements and enhanced user experience.

In about a year and a half of ongoing collaboration, we achieved the following metric improvements:

  • Footshop.cz now has 2.5⨉ better loading speed (LCP) on mobile.
  • Layout shift metric (CLS) improved over 8⨉.
  • Interaction response (and INP metric) improved by 30%.

What do Footshop people say?

We enjoy collaborating with Footshop, not just for the brand but for the team's quality and drive. We're thrilled they value our partnership.

“Great collaboration that brought a skilled partner (= PageSpeed.ONE team) to our small team. They provided not just know-how but actionable tips for phased improvements with significant impact.”

Jiří Hykel, Frontend Developer

Daniel Urban, CIO of Footshop, adds:

“I appreciate PageSpeed.ONE's quick grasp of web performance and clear communication, even for non-tech people. The unique know-how is invaluable. We couldn't have achieved this alone.”

Daniel Urban, CIO of Footshop

Successful web optimization collaboration requires several conditions on both sides. Let's summarize:

  1. The client values speed as a crucial part of user experience and is willing to invest, knowing it will pay off.
  2. Quality measurement is set up, and we have sufficient data. (Our monitoring and SpeedCurve RUM)
  3. Our consultants can actively communicate with the team, and proposed changes are prioritized in development plans.
  4. Collaboration is ongoing, avoiding regression and continuously educating the client's team.

Thank you, Footshop, for the fruitful collaboration. We look forward to continuing it!
