Web speed isn’t a technical detail but a vital business topic. Every year, PageSpeed.ONE helps numerous websites achieve faster speeds and a more pleasant user experience.

In 2023 and 2024, we were on the hunt for the fastest Czech e-shop. This year, we've expanded into the PageSpeed.ONE Awards, honoring Czech and Slovak websites across various categories.

Before diving into the ratings and results, let's discuss why speed remains crucial and whether anything has shifted in the current landscape.

Speed isn’t just a technical parameter for developers; it’s a hard business currency, as CzechCrunch writes in their article.

Why Focus on Speed in 2025? Market Demands Evolve and AI's Influence Grows

Faster websites often see better conversions, attract more visitors through SEO, and help reduce PPC advertising costs.

Take, for example, the e-shop deNatura, which saw a 17% increase in Google visits thanks to PageSpeed.ONE enhancements.

Is speed still a topic in 2025, when fast connections and devices are common? Indeed, it is. Most websites struggle to meet the ever-stricter market demands.

  1. User expectations are rising.
The patience of Gen Z and younger generations can be measured in seconds or hundreds of milliseconds.
  2. Web technologies favor developers but slow users down.
The widespread shift to client-side rendering, initiated by the React framework, “enriches” websites with loads of JavaScript, which can be painfully slow on less capable devices.
  3. Device performance varies greatly.
You might have a high-end phone in your pocket, but try using your websites on a $200 device. You’ll be surprised at how poorly they perform.

Speed and Stability Matter, Especially in the Age of AI

This year, we’ve observed a sharp increase in robotic traffic among our clients. AI bots burden servers just like real users, but unlike them, they (so far) don’t purchase anything, offering less value.

Take, for instance, PageSpeed.ONE, which recorded four million queries from the USA for a successful Czech e-shop in just seven days, 90% of which came from Meta’s AI indexer. Occasionally, robots go berserk.

They often cause overloads precisely when you need your website the most.

How Did We Select This Year’s PageSpeed.ONE Awards?

Compared to previous years (2023 and 2024), we’ve changed a lot:

  1. More categories.
Besides e-shops, we also included content, corporate, and other websites this year.
  2. Competition in Slovakia.
For the first time, we selected the fastest websites in both Czechia and Slovakia.
  3. Project submissions were open.
Until now, we chose the websites ourselves, but this year, you could submit your own projects. We evaluated each website with monitoring PLUS.
  4. Websites were compared using the new SPS score.
The new overall speed score (PageSpeed.ONE score) operates on different principles, considering not only metric status but also value distribution among users.

We assessed websites using data from November 28, 2025, and were genuinely curious about the outcomes. Let’s reveal the results.

PageSpeed.ONE Awards for Czechia: The Winner is JRC.cz

Websites crafted by the Smarty.cz team are known for their phenomenal speed. Following last year’s victory by iWant.cz, JRC.cz takes the top spot in Czechia this year, with the main Smarty.cz website in third place.

Let's have a round of applause!

What Can You Learn from JRC’s Website?

  • Performance starts at the backend. JRC.cz websites feature excellent server response times. A TTFB value of 0.24 seconds is fantastic for a relatively large e-shop. Moreover, stability is evident even during the ongoing Black Friday. Great job!
  • Well-optimized frontend. The LCP metric (largest contentful paint) on mobile is 0.69 seconds, meaning the frontend delivers content in an impressive 450 ms. This is aided by good old data optimization – for instance, the HTML of product pages is just 15 kB, CSS is 19 kB, and JS around 300 kB.
  • JRC.cz also makes excellent use of modern optimization tools – from Back/Forward Cache, to images in WebP format, and lazy loading.
  • Old-school server technology. By not utilizing React or other modern frontend tricks, Smarty reduces optimization costs.

PageSpeed.ONE Awards for Slovakia: The Winner is WOOX.sk

For the first time, we are selecting the fastest websites in Slovakia. The PageSpeed.ONE Award goes to WOOX.sk and the agency mime digital. Let’s have a round of applause!

WOOX.sk is a practical demonstration of what we've been saying for a long time. Websites built on boxed solutions can achieve top performance.

Slovakia’s WOOX is built on the Shoptet platform, which we’ve been talking about, collaborating on core platform optimization, and optimizing Shoptet has long been part of our services. How does this website achieve its results?

  • Outstanding backend response.
Shoptet’s TTFB values, delivered to all 40,000 of its e-shops, are commendable. For WOOX.sk, it’s 0.36 seconds on mobile.

  • Quality custom design adjustments.
Unlike many other e-shops on this most popular Czech e-commerce platform, WOOX’s customizations are technically sound, preserving user experience and not degrading frontend metrics LCP (loading speed) and CLS (layout stability).

Congratulations to all winners and honorees of the PageSpeed.ONE Awards! What can all web developers take away from this competition? After analyzing this year’s results and considering experiences from optimizing PageSpeed.ONE clients’ websites, we’ve prepared several recommendations for you.

Effective Optimizations to Improve Website Speed

  1. Keep an eye on the backend. This year, we started focusing on the TTFB metric, or backend response speed. A slow backend negatively impacts user experience across all Core Web Vitals metrics. We’ve seen how unpreparedness for fluctuations caused by Black Friday or AI bots can harm many businesses.
  2. Beware of slow interactions. Another big topic this year is INP optimization, or interaction response speed. We help clients optimize JavaScript with developers, but analytics – specifically GTM setup – is becoming a major topic.
  3. Proper lazy loading. This simple speed optimization (LCP) still causes headaches, as simple things can be too easily botched. Developers, make sure you truly understand the principle of lazy loading and verify it.
  4. Back/forward cache. How to improve user experience in a way that even your boss will notice? “Enable” BFcache on your website.
  5. Use Cloudflare. Yes, the recent outage of this popular service hurt us all a bit. However, when compared to how Cloudflare can help websites with speed, stability, or security, the balance is clearly positive. We’ve also recently started helping with Cloudflare.
  6. Implement WebP images. And a classic to end with. We still encounter websites that haven’t leveraged this relatively easy speed boost. Still using old-fashioned JPEG images? Deploy WebP, it almost always significantly speeds up your site.

Just remember, every website is unique, and the most effective approach is to choose custom optimizations.
