Version 4.14: Histogram in the Domains Report and a More Sensitive Speed Watchdog

At PageSpeed.ONE, we understand that without quality data, improving your website's speed is a rather challenging task. In release 4.14, we've addressed this issue for both advanced users and those using our tool at a basic level.

Experienced users will appreciate the histograms, which show how speed is distributed among real users. Meanwhile, everyone else will benefit from the ability to adjust the Watchdog's sensitivity, reducing the number of alerts you receive. Additionally, we've added new language versions for both the website and the application, among other updates.

Release 4.14, we're stepping on the pedals.

Histogram Distribution in the Domains Report#

The seventy-fifth percentile is but a single figure. The histogram in the Domains report reveals the shape – whether a green number is perhaps hiding an orange or red tail.

You'll find it in the data from the Chrome UX Report within the Domains report. For daily monitoring, the state of metrics and their development over time will suffice. Consider the histogram as a diagnostic tool when you need to identify which user segment is dragging down your 75th percentile progress.

A More Sensitive Speed Watchdog#

The Watchdog is your favourite feature of monitoring. It is meant to alert you when there's a significant shift in speed. We've now added the ability to change the detection sensitivity in the test settings. The default value is taken from the team settings, but you can override it for a specific test. If you monitor certain websites less frequently, you'll appreciate receiving fewer emails or Slack notifications.

The goal remains the same – less unnecessary disturbance, yet timely signals.

Ending FREE Monitoring#

We are gradually phasing out FREE monitoring, as you're already aware. The dashboard now displays a banner with further steps for FREE tests.

From 1st September 2026, no new data will be added to FREE monitoring. By 1st October 2026, they will disappear from dashboards.

Working on a Trial#

We continue to refine the user journey for the PLUS plan from URL entry to establishing a paid PLUS test. Currently, we are focusing on:

• Test states – ensuring messages in the report clearly explain what is happening
• Onboarding emails – to better guide newcomers on what they see and what to do next

Spanish and German on the Website#

We are expanding the PageSpeed.ONE website and application to include Spanish and German.

New on the Website#

On the blog, there is an article about websites that appear fast in Lighthouse but are slow for users: Falsely Fast Websites. We've become quite annoyed by the common technique where optimization plugins for WordPress and other platforms cheat on Lighthouse scores without actually improving website speed.

• We have revamped and unified the images for social media sharing across articles and languages.
• Monitoring emails are sent more reliably, with better visibility into what happened during distribution.
• SEO continues: we've adjusted the homepage, speed test pages, and handled redirects.
• The homepage features a new illustration, and over time, we will redesign the entire website in this style.
• Articles now have a consistent sub-header with authors and publication date.
• We better maintain "lastmod" and priority in the sitemap.
• Watchdog graphs have improved scales.

In Preparation#

• Connector to Looker Studio – bringing monitoring data where you already report. We're looking forward to it.
• Stripe and test pricing calculations – making trial and payment clearer.
