Monitoring PageSpeed.ONE Version 4.5: New Landing Pages, Help, Monthly Navigation Types

We proudly introduce the latest iteration of our web speed monitoring tool under the PageSpeed.ONE brand. Our focus has been to better elucidate the features of PLUS monitoring for interested users. Let’s dive in.

Since its inception, PLUS monitoring has undergone significant transformations. Our designers and coders have been hard at work, refining our tool to better promote its role in helping you achieve a faster website:

Help Documentation Updates#

Our team has also been expanding our Help documentation. Not only do we cover the features of our monitoring tool on these new pages…

… but we also address speed as a broader topic:

• FCP Metric (First Contentful Paint)
• TBT Metric (Total Blocking Time)

Additionally, we’ve made some minor adjustments for a better user experience (such as opening links in new windows, adding anchor points to headings, and removing the now-defunct FID metric).

Navigation Types in Monthly Charts#

In version 4.4, we included a report on Navigation Types in the “Domains” report. Now, these data points have been added to monthly trend charts, allowing you to track long-term progress:

Internal Tweaks and Technical Adjustments#

As always, we’ve squashed a few bugs and made some UI refinements…

• Bugfix: Error when clicking through to test detail - undefined (reading "cruxes")
• Bugfix: "Test Name" automatically inserted into test settings
• Bugfix: Time switch display corrections
• Bugfix: Timing issue fixed when creating a new PLUS test
• UI: Improved navigation for admins
• UI: Links under headings in grey
• UI: Not all inserted annotations visible in annual overview chart
• UI: Device type also noted in chart description

… and we’ve handled some technical housekeeping:

• Transition to Gitlab
• Move to a monorepo
• Dependency updates and internal process adjustments
• Fixes for issues reported in Sentry
• Node.js package upgrades
• Further testing of CPU impact on tests
